Philipp Glahé is Assistant Professor at the Chair of Modern and Contemporary History at LMU Munich. Prior to joining the Chair in October 2024, he was a Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg (2022-2025).
He holds a cotutelle PhD in History from Heidelberg University and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris. His doctoral dissertation examined legal lobbying movements that advocated amnesty and impunity for National Socialist war criminals in the early Federal Republic of Germany during the 1950s.
Philipp Glahé previously completed a binational course of study between Germany and France, earning a dual Master's degree in History from Heidelberg University and EHESS Paris (2015–2017), following undergraduate studies in History and French Literature at the University of Tübingen and a Licence d’histoire from Aix-Marseille University (2012–2015).
His research and teaching focus on legal contemporary history, the history of international law, the history of knowledge and science, institutional history, and Franco-German contemporary history.
